Miss Clavel
An homage to a fictional nun
"In an old house in paris that was covered with vines..." Miss Clavel takes care of twelve little girls. Miss Clavel is very protective of her charges, and sometimes a little easily frightened, but she's a fairly stern and capable caretaker. She never skimps when it comes to getting out and having fun in the city and even takes the kids traveling to London. These illustrations are from Lubwig Bemelmans' beautiful books about a little girl named Madeline.
"And afraid of a disaster Miss Clavel ran fast and faster..."
Miss Clavel senses something amiss and runs to check on her girls in Madeline.
Miss Clavel takes her young charges for frequent promenades through Paris, come rain or shine. Here they walk by Notre Dame.
Miss Clavel tells the kids they are going to visit Pepito ("the bad hat") in London.
Miss Clavel takes the girls skating within view of Sacre Coeur.
"That was the end of the riot-
suddenly all was quiet."
